How Much You Need to Own Property in Phuket

Every year you come to Phuket on holiday you can’t but notice all these billboards and posters advertising property in Phuket. You might have friends who own a condo or a villa on the island. However, when it comes to making a firm decision in favour of buying something for yourself you get completely confused and lost in the sea of the offers and options.

The first and foremost question is how much one needs to afford luxury of owning some property. Being property experts we have summarized various purchase scenarios for you to get a better understanding of what is available on the market, and how much it might cost.

An entry-level property within a 2-minute drive from the beach, be it a small studio apartment or a one-bedroom condo, will not cost you more than $33K – $35K.

Double the price and you will be able to buy a 27-33 sqm apartment in one of the off-plan developments in a close proximity to the sea. Developers may offer you a free furniture package as a bonus, or a free ownership transfer.

If you are inclined to buy something bigger and spend something around $140K look for 2-bedroom condos. If you prefer a small house you may count on this amount – it is within the range. You can choose from off-plan projects and completed developments.

A budget of $200K is perfect for a sea view unit somewhere in Patong, Surin, Kata, Kamala or Naiharn. Alternatively, you can afford a 2-bedroom pool villa in one of the popular tourist areas not far from the sea. In case you look for a resale property there is a decent selection of such properties.

We are gradually moving on to a more expensive segment of private pool villas and sea view condominiums.

$400K can buy you a pool villa or a penthouse with a sea view somewhere near one of the Phuket’s beaches.

Add another $150K and consider a designer project, like a sea view villa or a townhouse with a roof top swimming pool and magical sea panoramas. A beachfront condo with a sea view can be found if you are ready to spend $550K on a sea view apartment.

$1M might seem like a good sum to be spent, however you are in a pretty tough category. On one hand you can easily purchase a nice 4-5 bedroom villa, on the other hand it is a bit not enough for the same sort of property but with an ocean view.

Stretching out your budget a little bit more will give you more interesting options. And finally, if you have no particulars limitations on your property shopping sprees you can get absolutely anything: a fabulous ocean front penthouse, a sea view villa on the beach, or a 7-10 bedroom estate from a renowned architect.
